Schedule Sneak Peek: Ryle

Ryle WR/DB Kaden Gardner

Nine of the 10 opponents that Ryle will face are the same as they were on the 2021 schedule, including KHSAA Class 6A state champion, St. Xavier. The Raiders will just flip-flop the venues they will play those foes in. The challenging slate prepared Ryle for a playoff run that took them all the way to the Elite 8. Ryle is aiming for even better results this fall.

The opponents on the Raiders 2022 slate went a combined 72-49 (.649 winning percentage) last season. The seven non-conference foes were a combined 62-25 (.713 winning percentage). As well as St. Xavier, Ryle will also take on Class 6A Elite 8 finalist Daviess County and 2021 Class 5A Elite 8 finalist Covington Catholic. Since 2015, Ryle is a combined 20-2 (.909 winning percentage) versus county rivals Conner, Cooper and Boone County.

Ryle QB Logan Verax

FINAL TAKE: The decision to play a grueling schedule paid off for Ryle in 2021. The Raiders made their deepest playoff run since 2016. It was also the first time they advanced out of the first round of the postseason since that year.

With an experienced core returning  that includes seniors WR/DB Kaden Gardner, RB Jayce Harden, RB/DB Lukas Colemire, OL/DL Ameron Vinson, DB Abram Cusick, OL Drew Dickerson, DB Luke Lown and junior QB Logan Verax look for the Ryle to make another deep playoff run. The Raiders stood toe-to-toe against the upper echelon teams they faced a year ago but came up empty in the win column against Lexington Catholic, St. Xavier, Covington Catholic and Trinity. The motivation is there for a veteran Ryle squad. All that is left for the talented Raiders is to prove on the field, that they have earned the right to be considered one of the best in the Bluegrass state.
