Dayton Round-Up: Firebirds Stay Hot, Burn Wayne

For a third straight week Fairmont a come from behind game-winning touchdown as they eke past Wayne. As they have done so well during this modest winning streak, the Firebirds dominated the time of possession battle by running the football to post close victories of three, three and five points.
Fairmont held the ball for almost nine minutes more than Wayne but had 100 less yards of total offense. The Firebirds ran the ball on all 49 of their offensive plays for 219 yards. They have only thrown 13 passes all season long.
Senior Drew Barker led the way for Fairmont with 115 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Junior Kamron Payne pitched in with the first 10 carries of his career for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Tyrell Lewis led Wayne with 224 yards passing and three touchdowns (two pass, one rush). Senior RJ Mukes III racked up 216 all-purpose yards (89 on nine receptions) on 15 touches.

GREENVILLE 35, BUTLER 21 – Brock Short tops the 300-yard mark rushing for the second time in three weeks, churning out 349 yards and three touchdowns as Greenville (2-6, 2-5) won for the second time in three weeks. The senior has 1,829 yards rushing, 23 touchdowns (21 rush, two rec) and 2,382 all-purpose yards (297.7 APYs/game).
