Wyoming advances over Indian Hill in OT thriller

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Two weeks ago the Wyoming Cowboys went on the road and knocked off the Indian Hill Braves by 30 points, it proved to be a much different story as the CHL rivals faced off the Ohio Division IV, Region 16 semi-finals on Saturday night at Lakota West High School.

The game went to overtime and after the Wyoming defense held Indian Hill to a field goal in their possession, they sealed the deal when junior quarterback Evan Prater connected with senior running back Pierson Rogers on a 20-yard scoring pass.

Indian Hill dominated the first half as they shutout a Cowboys’ offense that entered the contest averaging 46.1 points per game.

John Mark Williams got the scoring started for the Braves with a first-quarter TD run from 13 yards out. Teammate Diertrious Baylor added 3-yard rushing touchdown of his own to give Indian Hill a 14-0 lead as the teams headed to the locker rooms.

Prater scampered for a 22-yard touchdown on a quarterback keeper to get Wyoming on the board. Rogers added his own 8-yard rushing touchdown to tie the game up in the fourth quarter. Prater completed just 5-of-18 passes for 40 yards and was picked off twice, but came up with the plays when they needed. He rushed for 84 yards on 23 carries. Rogers added 18 carries for 67 yards of his own.

The Wyoming defense came up with three turnovers, including an interception by Moe Mitchell and held Indian Hill to just 141 total yards of offense.

Up next, the Cowboys will play for the regional title when they face London at Centerville High School on Saturday.
