2025 Snapshot: Goshen

It is a work in progress at Goshen. Last season, injuries forced a lot of not yet ready for Friday night lights underclassmen onto the field before they were ready. In time that experience is going to pay dividends but a large portion of this team are still only sophomores and juniors. The Warriors are going to get better as the season wears on. How Goshen plays in divisional battles will give us a real glimpse of how bright the future is going to be.

“We continue to improve and develop as a program. We had another successful offseason working on our strength and developing athletes. We believe in multi-sport athletes and the weight room,” head coach Shane Elkin states.

Elkin addresses the challenges that lie ahead. “We are a small senior class (only 9 seniors) so we will need to play underclassmen. There is no substitute for experience. Until we have an experienced senior class with 20 or more players and our younger classes are able to develop at the lower levels competing against athletes their own age we will not be the type of program we are capable of fielding at Goshen.

Division III, Region 12
2024 RECORD: 2-8, 1-4 SBAAC American
HEAD COACH: Shane Elkins (7-24 at Goshen, three years; 27-74 overall, 10 years)

HONOR ROLL
Camden Telinda, Jr, WR/DB – One of the best two-way juniors in the SBAAC. Telinda, who will move to receiver, was a Second Team All-SBAAC American selection a year ago. He has 1,134 yards rushing, 14 rushing touchdowns, 31 receptions., 301 receiving yards, two touchdown catches, 1,697 all-purpose yards, 75 tackles, three forced fumbles, three pass breakups and two interceptions in his career.

Ryder Barrial, Jr, LB – Has a tremendous upside. Barrial showed huge promise with 30 tackles, 8.0 tackles for losses, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two pass breakups in seven games as a sophomore. He was named Second Team All-SBAAC American for his work.

Jorden Williams, Sr, LB – Will be counted on to be a leader of the defense. Williams was named Honorable Mention All-SBAAC American as a junior. He has 53 tackles, 5.0 tackles for losses and two interceptions in his career.

OTHER RETURNEES
Gage Croley, Jr, RB/LB – It has been eight years since Goshen has had a player rush for more than 1,00 yards in a season (Jimmy Strunk – 1,107 in 2017)…we like the odds on Croley snapping that streak this fall. As a sophomore, he ran for 551 yards and six touchdowns, 258 of those yards and four of those touchdowns (on 38 carries) came in a win against New Richmond.

Jace Combs, Sr, LB – Like Williams, Combs will need to carry a veteran presence on defense. He registered 41 tackles and 5.0 tackles for losses as a junior.

Jomar Berg, Jr, DB – An explosive little package that could be a real sleeper in the SBAAC this fall. Berg can do so many things to put pressure. He heads into his junior campaign with 42 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, seven pass breakups and three interceptions on the opposition. Look for Berg to be a factor on offense as well where he turned two of six receptions into the teams only two receiving scores of 2024.

Connor Hensley, Sr, OL – The Warriors will look to Hensley for senior leadership on the o-line.

Chase Grundy, Jr, OL – A returning starter who gives the Warriors girth up front at 6-foot-0 and 260-pounds.

Hayden Peters, Jr, OL – Like classmate Grundy, Peters has great size at 6-foot-1 and 300-pounds.

Caden Slusher, So, QB – Expect Slusher to be one of the most improved offensive players in the SBAAC this fall. He threw for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a freshman.

Brody Flynn, Jr, DB – Teams with classmates Berg and Telinda to make up a very speedy secondary for the next two years.

Jackson McClain, So, DL – Performed admirably as a freshman. McClain was in on 15 tackles with a sack and 2.0 tackles for losses.
