Troy tops Piqua for third straight Traditions Cup

TROY, Ohio – Three was the magic number for Troy on Friday night. The Trojans notched their third straight win on the season and third victory in a row against Piqua to keep the Traditions Cup back in the schools trophy. It was the 141st meeting between the two schools, and Troy now holds a 69-66-6 advantage in the nation’s oldest and longest running high school football rivalry.

Troy quarterback Aiden Kirkpatrick carried the ball 21 times for 143 yards and a pair of scores. It was the fifth time in the seniors last 10 starts that he has run for two touchdowns. Kirkpatrick was also a very efficient 12-14 passing for 139 yards and no interceptions.

Kayden Franklin set the tone for the victors, returning the opening kickoff 99-yards for a touchdown. He finished the game with 138 all-purpose yards on eight touchdowns. Piqua senior running back Debo Knisley had a career high 158 yards rushing.
