Division I, Region 2
2020 RECORD: 8-0, 6-0 GWOC
COACH: Tony Broering (39-23 at Northmont, six years)

HONOR ROLL
Xavier Vuong, Sr, DL/K – A coach’s dream. Vuong does whatever is asked of him and gets it done to help the team win. He led the GWOC with five-and-a-half sacks, connected on 36/40 extra points and his only field goal was the game winner in overtime against Region 2 champion Springfield last fall. That effort earned Vuong Division I Second Team All-Southwest District honors.

Javien Brownlee, Jr, WR – Back for his third year as a starter. In five games as a sophomore, Brownlee caught 25 balls for 246 yards and three touchdowns. He was named Second Team All-GWOC for the work.

Joe Taylor, Sr, ILB – Will be one of the leaders of this team. Taylor had a great first season as a starter for the Thunderbolts in 2020. He tallied 46 total tackles and had an interception on his way to being named Second Team All-GWOC.

Malachi Staffney, Sr, RB – Has bided his time and now looks to become a focal point of the Northmont offense. On 35 touches, Staffney had 197 yards from scrimmage (141 rush, 56 rec) and four touchdowns as a junior. He was an Honorable Mention All-GWOC selection.

OTHER RETURNEES
Todd “TJ” Gregory, Sr, WR – This should be a breakout season for Gregory who has Division I talent. He caught 14 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns as a junior.

Isaiah Hightower, Sr, OL – The anchor of the o-line. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Hightower will play on Saturdays in 2022, his play this fall will determine at what level.

Melvin Howard, Sr, WR – The third piece of what could be a very dynamic receiving corp in 2021. Howard had five receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown as a junior.
