2021 Snapshot: Kings

There are changes at Kings this fall. The Knights and head coach Alex Garvin will have to make some adjustments on the fly this preseason. In the last month-plus the program has lost defensive coordinator Jay Volker, who was named head coach at Talawanda. The school also has a new athletic director, Eric Taylor who left the same position at CHCA for new challenges in Kings Mill.

Despite the moves, the results should not vary much on the field. The players are accustomed to winning. The Knights have been to the playoffs 15 times in the last 21 years. The kids come up through the system that is accustomed to and expects to win.

There are plenty of new faces that will get the chance to step up and make their mark on Friday nights. Look for them to answer the call. “This is a hard-working, selfless, tough group,” Garvin states about his 2021 club.

Garvin does have concerns. “We are young, inexperienced and unproven (up front), the offensive and defensive lines will be a big question marks.” If they can resolve those issues Kings will challenge for the ECC title and make the postseason in back-to-back years for the first time since 2015-’16.
