Schedule Sneak Peek: New Richmond
- Updated: July 2, 2021
Beat the teams that they are supposed to and a fourth trip to the playoffs in the last six years seems very likely for New Richmond. With 16 of the 26 teams in Region 12 making the postseason the Lions are positioned very well to host a first-round playoff game if they take care of business.
New Richmond opens 2021 with five non-conference contests. The combined 2020 record of those schools on the Lions slate was 44-42 (.512 winning %). Only four squads on the schedule finished with a winning record.
2020 RECORD: 5-3, 2-2 SBAAC American
COACH: Pat Burke (26-14 at New Richmond, four years; 26-14 overall)
HONOR ROLL/TOP RETURNEES: First Team All-SBAAC American: Bo Snider, Sr, DB
Second Team All-SBAAC American: Damean Daugherty, Sr, DB; Tyler Sininger, Sr, WR; Jack Moore, Jr, DB

FINAL TAKE: New Richmond graduated four first team all-league performers at key positions. Filling those voids with inexperienced players may make the two August games look a little out of sync and choppy, for the Lions. Get through that and this team will be much more polished on the field in September.
Division III, Region 12 is loaded with teams that can light up the scoreboard. Alter, Ross, Trotwood-Madison, Badin, Bellbrook, Tippecanoe and St. Mary’s Memorial are all capable of putting up big numbers. To get back to the postseason New Richmond must play better on defense against the upper echelon teams on its schedule. The Lions gave up 30.1 points per contest in 2020. They allowed 48 points or more three times in eight games. The road to success and a potential deep run in the playoffs for New Richmond is going to be an offense that can control the clock and limit opponent’s possessions.
