Blitz 5 Top 25: Week 2

If Week 1 of the high school football season taught us anything it was that you better bring your “A” game and play the entire 48 minutes. St. Xavier retains its spot atop the Blitz 5 Top 25 presented byTriStateFootball.com after a hard-fought, bone-rattling victory over No. 2 Lakota West. Despite the loss, the Firebirds retained their poll position right behind the Bombers. Two teams, Lakota East and Fairfield, fell out of the Top 10. They are replaced by fellow GMC foes Mason and Hamilton.

Highlands entered the rankings after it eked out a victory at reigning Kentucky Class 5A state champions, Bowling Green. The Bluebirds are the only new team to break into the Top 25. Ryle falls out of the poll.

Friday night will see a rematch of the 2019 Ohio Division I state championship as Elder travels to Pickerington Central. The Tigers handled reigning Division II state champion Massillon Washington in Week 1. 

Moeller will host Louisville Trinity on Saturday. The Shamrocks were the Kentucky Class 6A state champs a year ago. St. Xavier and La Salle will be playing Top 10 teams for a second straight week.
