Turpin gets revenge on Glen Este
- Updated: September 25, 2015
Turpin exceeded its 2014 win total in the fifth week of the season.
The Spartans defeated Eastern Cincinnati Conference foe Glen Este, 31-17 on Friday night for its fifth win a year after finishing 4-6.
The Spartans lost to the Trojans in 2014 by a score of 26-7. However, this matchup was all Turpin.
The first quarter was a defensive battle with the only score coming on a Spartans field goal by Austin Jackson.
Turpin’s Luke Bohenek found the end zone from eight yards out for a Spartans touchdown to put the Spartans up 10-0 early in the second quarter.
The Spartans extended their lead to 17 on a touchdown pass from Bennie Stoll to Tyler Schnitzler with a little over three minutes left in the first half.
Turpin continued its dominance in the second half, but not until Glen Este found the end zone twice to take the score to 17-14 in the middle of the third quarter.
The Spartans added two scores in the fourth quarter, a Bohenek 4-yard rush and a 33-yard pass from Stoll to Bohenek to down the Trojans 31-17 to remain undefeated (5-0).
Turpin (5-0, 2-0 in ECC) travels to Withrow next week to take on the Tigers, while Glen Este (3-2, 1-1 in ECC) will return home to face the Eagles from Milford.
