Schedule Sneak Peek: Western Hills
- Updated: June 16, 2021
Western Hills will head into this season riding a five-game winning streak. State champion St. Xavier and Northmont are the only two Division I schools in Ohio with longer streaks, at eight in a row. That’s some pretty good company that the Mustangs find themselves in.
What makes that distinction so intriguing, is the fact that since moving up to Division I in 2015, Western Hills has not beaten a Division I (0-3) or Division II (0-5) team. The Mustangs are a combined 21-37 in that span.
The teams that Western Hills will play were a combined 36-39 (.480 winning %) in 2020. The Mustangs will not play a Division I team. Their slate breaks down like this: one Division II team; four Division III teams; two Division V teams; two Division VI teams and one Division VII team.
Here is a look at the 2021 Western Hills schedule:

FINAL TAKE: The Mustangs have little margin for error. There are 17 teams in Division I, Region 4, 16 of them will make the playoffs. It is hard to measure Western Hills against their peers since they don’t play a Division I team.
If Western Hills were to run the table (which is feasible) that would give them 48.5 Level I computer points, more than enough to host a first-round playoff game. By comparison Lakota West, Lakota East, Fairfield and Mason all have the potential to accrue the maximum of 65.0 Level I computer points.
Any stumbles at all, against this schedule could leave the Mustangs as the lone team on the outside looking in at the postseason, in Region 4.
