Dayton Round-Up: Trotwood-Madison steals one from Springfield

For the second straight week Springfield turned the ball over five times as they fell to Trotwood-Madison in frustrating fashion. It’s the first time the Wildcats have lost two games in a row since 2017. The Rams avenge a 41-0 loss to Springfield from a year ago.

Indiana commit Timothy Carpenter threw for a touchdown and ran for another in the second quarter as Trotwood-Madison built a 21-7 halftime lead. Armani Rogers was on the receiving end of the scoring toss from Carpenter. He also snared one of four Rams interceptions on the night.

The second half remained scoreless until Springfield running back Jayvin Norman found the end zone for the second time with just over three minutes to go in the contest. The Wildcats would miss the extra point leaving them down one, 21-20.

Springfield would get the ball back after a Trotwood-Madison fumble. The Wildcats hopes at a comeback would end when defensive back Darius Dennis would come up with the Rams fourth pick of the game and sealing Springfield’s fate.
