Week 2 saw multiple top-25 matchups across the tri-state, including two close games amongst ECC and GMC programs, with multiple games coming down to the wire. It was a gorgeous night for football and there were some big time performances.
NO. 4 ANDERSON 49, NO. 21 WEST CLERMONT 7
In a battle of top-25 programs from the ECC, the Anderson Raptors handled their business again on Friday night, defeating the West Clermont Wolves 49-7.
It was all Raptors on both sides of the ball during the contest, as they were potent both through the air and against the run, in addition to dominating the trenches on both sides of the ball.
The Anderson defense held the highly touted Landon Young to minimal gains, in addition to limiting the West Clermont offense to under 200 passing yards, solidifying the Raptors defense as one of the most stout in the tri-state.

In addition to their defensive dominance, the Anderson offense was once again untouchable, torching the Wolves defense to the tune of 351 yards through the air by Junior Owen Scalf.
The Raptors tailback/wide receiver Jordan Davis had 62 yards rushing, in addition to junior wide receiver Taiden Jallick having 125 receiving yards and two scores on 8 receptions.
Senior linebacker Brady Kuhn had a team-leading 14 tackles and half a sack, while senior Ke’Maury Tye had 12 tackles of his own.
The Raptors will travel to Little Miami (0-2) next weekend, while West Clermont will travel to Lebanon (2-0).

NO. 18 KINGS 16, NO. 5 WINTON WOODS 14
Week two saw a major upset in the top-25, as the Kings Knights were able to topple the Winton Woods Warriors in a Eastern Cincinnati Conference game, 16-14.
The Kings’ defense was able to hold the Warriors stout offense to minimal gains through the air. A big goal line stand early in the contest, set the tone for the rest of the game.
In the meantime, the Warriors’ defense was up to the challenge as well, and a defensive battle between both squads was in full effect.

Late in the game, Kings was able to generate a consistent offensive drive and put themselves in field goal range, where Junior Noah Magrino was able to knock it through the uprights and put the Knights up two.
When the clock struck zero, the Magrino field goal was enough for Kings to earn their biggest win in years, moving them to 2-0 and setting up a date with fellow undefeated Loveland (2-0) on the road.
Winton Woods struggled all night compared to their normal standards of play, but will look to rebound against Milford (1-1) on the road.

NO. 3 LAKOTA WEST 35, NO. 23 MASON 13
Junior Firebirds quarterback Jackson Smith light up the Friday night, throwing for 284 yards and four touchdowns, to the tune of 20 yards per attempt in their contest over the Mason Comets.
Smith was generous with the ball, connecting with a plethora of his receiving talent, completing a pass to five different receivers.
Senior Lakota West receiver Tyson Davis was the biggest benefactor of Smith’s big night, hauling in seven receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns.
The junior wideout Karmelo Jordan had two receptions for 37 yards in addition to Davis, while each of the three addition receivers: junior Chris Bradley, junior tailback Kenyon Norman, and Jayden Bregdan had big receptions to help boost Smith’s passing yards.
Comets senior De’Angelo Birch had 98 passes of his own in the loss. Junior tailback Brandon Birdsong had 73 yards on 20 rushing attempts in the contest as well.
Smith will look to continue his impressive performance next week against Fairfield (0-2) next week, while Mason will look to rebound against Lakota East (2-0).
