With high scoring offenses and lock down defenses, there were many solid performances but a Greater Miami Conference surprise headlines our Cincinnati Round-Up in week two.

NO. 4 PRINCETON 28, NO. 10 COLERAIN 0

The Vikings and Cardinals clashed in an important early Greater Miami Conference matchup between two contenders. Colerain was looking to avoid an uncharacteristic 0-2 start while Princeton was seeking to keep their momentum going from week one.

The Princeton Vikings were able to use their high powered offense to spurt past visiting Colerain. The Viking defense got things started by forcing an early fumble. Riley Woods would respond for the Vikings with a 2 yard touchdown run to give Princeton a 7-0 lead.

Viking quarterback RJ West continued his strong play to start the season as well. He would toss a twenty yard touchdown pass to Tyson Beach and another of 65 yards to Woods. Princeton led 21-0 at the half and would not look back.

In the second half, West would again find Beach this time for a 39 yard touchdown to send Princeton to a 28-0 victory.

The Cardinals who are a perennial power in the GMC will look to gain their footing in week three when they host Fairfield as Princeton will look to continue its strong play against Lakota East.

NO. 12 MASON 28, NO. 12 HAMILTON 7

Mason used a physical mindset and physical gameplan to push past host Hamilton Friday night. Mason bounced back from a tough loss last week to Gahana Lincoln. The Comets were able to outmatch the Big Blue with a smash mouth game of football that led them to victory.

Mason backup quarterback Quinten Kaylor paced the offensive attack with touchdown runs of six and 3 yards respectively. The Comets used a quality run game to dominate up front and create their tempo for the game.

Hamilton was unable to get anything going offensively as they were under relentless pressure all night from the Mason defense. After a fake punt the Big Blue were finally able to get on the board with a 4 yard run by Jaylan Garrett with just under five minutes remaining.

Mason went back to the ground to chew up the remaining time on the clock and punched in a final touchdown to get away with a road victory.

Both teams are now 1-1 and will look to move forward positively in the GMC.

NO. 24 WYOMING 20, NO. 21 TAFT 0

The Wyoming Cowboys shutout their second straight opponent to start the season as they posted a 20-0 victory over host Taft. The Wyoming defense has been a calling card for the team early in the season and the Senator offense could not get anything going all night.

After two early field goals gave them a 6-0 advantage, DJ Gray returned a fumble on a scoop and score to give the Cowboys a 13-0 lead at the half. Gray gave the taft offense trouble all night providing pressure in the backfield.

Early in the second half Wyoming got a 96 yard run from CJ Hester to put the game out of reach as their defense was able to thwart any serious attempts from Taft the rest of the way.
