Blitz 5 Top 25: St. Xavier takes over at top

For the first time this season there is a new team atop the Blitz 5 Top 25. St. Xavier supplants Elder at number one.

However, the Panthers only dropped one spot in the poll after a tough road loss. The Elder run defense has been exposed and it bit them hard on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland. The Panthers have allowed 355.5 yards, 14.4 yards per carry and 10 rushing touchdowns in their last two games.

Turpin continues its rapid ascension up the rankings behind an offense that is averaging 44.5 points per game. The Spartans are one of three teams from the ECC in the poll. League member Walnut Hills is one of two newcomers to this week’s Blitz 5 Top 25 presented by TriStateFootball.com. The Eagles replace ECC rival Milford, whom they beat 35-7 last Friday night.

The other newcomer to the poll is unbeaten Talawanda. The Braves will now be tested over the next two weeks at Little Miami and at No. 13 Harrison.

Two of the three ranked teams from Northern Kentucky will face schools that have yet to lose this season. For #19 Simon Kenton it will be the second straight week finds itself in that situation.
