Cincinnati Round-Up: Badin rallies late

There will be a rematch in the division I regional final (again) and the Withrow Tigers flexed their muscles in a big win in our Cincinnati round-up.

DIVISION I, REGION 4

NO. 5 MOELLER 38, NO. 9 MASON 3

The Moeller Crusaders punched their ticket to a second consecutive regional final with a solid win over Mason on Friday night. The Crusaders opened up the playbook and went to the air early to burst out to the lead. Matt Ponatoski threw five first half touchdowns to push the Crusaders in front. They led 35-3 at the half.

In the second half, they used a physical run game to control the tempo and come away with the win. The Moeller defense also put out a strong effort as they held Mason to a single field goal and made it tough for the Comets to move the ball all night long.

Justice Burnam orchestrated the high-powered offense and threw for a pair of scores as well. Harrison was led by quarterback Dickie Engle who had a solid game through the air for the Wildcats.

Anderson advances to their second consecutive regional final where they will look to avenge last season’s loss in the round of 8.

NO. 3 WITHROW 42, NO. 2 TROY 14

The Withrow Tigers advanced to the regional final with a dominating win against Troy on Friday night. The Tigers jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead and were never threatened as they got the big victory. The Withrow offense matched the play of their defense in this round as they hung 42 points on the board and continued their suffocating defense.

Quarterback Luke Dunn tossed four touchdown passes on the night to lead the Withrow offense. Quintin Simmons (2) Kristian Bonner, and Chris Henry Jr. all caught touchdown passes for the Tigers. Teryhon Nichols also returned a punt for a score as Withrow played well in all phases in the win. (FULL RECAP)

DIVISION III, REGION 12

NO. 1 BADIN 14, NO. 5 WAPAKONETA 10

The Badin Rams kept their undefeated season alive with a come from behind win over Wapakoneta on Friday night. The Rams scored 14 unanswered points late to steal the victory after trailing 10-0 for the majority of the night.

The Rams recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter and finally got on the board when Alex Ritzie found Austin Buckle for a 10-yd touchdown. The defense would be able to get off the field and Badin made a final drive to win the game. Ritzie connected with Carson Cheek for a 5-yd score with two seconds remaining to lift the Rams to victory.

Badin advances to the regional final.

DIVISION IV, REGION 16
